Smaller

Smaller

People are born quite large, growing progressively smaller as they age. The tiniest among us are considered the most wise and—being only the size of an apple (or smaller)—deserve the most protection and the most respect. Our toddlers barely know what to do with their massive bodies, requiring playpens the size of a warehouse, many silos’ worth of food. Schools take up huge swaths of land, while luxury retirement villages can fit in the space of a single studio apartment. It’s ironic that the more we finally gain control of our bodies, the less body we have to control.
