Longevity

Longevity

Everyone’s competing to live the longest nowadays. Matt Kinney of Saskatchewan, Canada, lived to 139 years old, kept alive on IVs chock-full of stimulants. Manjula Jah of Hyderabad got to 143 years and 5 months, even if all her bodily functions were augmented externally. Then came Kotoe Irisu of Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, currently 149 years and 11 months. More than half of her body is now silicon-based. Her mouth no longer works, but according to MRI scans, she’s still listening. What an aspiration—to be doing what most only dream of, to be able to see so many years pass by.
